Yesterday I showed you a picture of me after I got off the trolley in Columbia, South Carolina which is how we got around during Palmetto Tat Days in 2003. I continued to look at everything I have saved since I was finally on the internet. In an old email ( one of many ) I have saved from one computer to another was an old email from Wally Sosa. There was the picture with others she sent to me in April after the Tatting event. I thank Wally for sharing with me. I also have some pictures that I have from the 2003 Palmetto Tat Days event which was the first one. Enjoy the pictures...starting with the first one of me getting off the trolley.
Here are some of the other tatters on the trolley. I see Terry Mcuffin who is now with the tatting angels but if you know some of the other people's names in the picture please share in the comments.
I can't tell if we were waiting to get on the trolley or we got off the trolley. I see Jane Moody, Teresa Woods and others. In all my pictures please share names of people in the comments.
Are these shirts cool being worn by the Southern Belles I think from Tenn. So here id the back of them and...
Here is the front of them.
Take a look at the tatted collar and hat band.
This is my purse that I made which was  my everyday purse until I finally decided not to make it my everyday purse. I kept catching the tatting on think and have repaired it many times so I just now take it to all lacing events.
One of my favorite pictures is Wally, Riet and me. I wish I weighed what I did in the picture again. Hard for me to believe this was 14 years ago.
Tatting fun continues....
Tatting and chit chatting in the lobby of our hotel.
The tat off where Mark Myers was the winner.
A lot of us went out to dinner at Applebees. My husband wasn't with me so I ordered his steak dinner to go which he ate in the hotel room while I went back to mingling with other tatters.
Pete and Betty Alderson from Snowgoose. Betty has gone to be with Tatting angels. You can see a profile Of Joy Crutchfield who is now Joy Robinson now.
Here is Debbie Arnold and Diana Stevenson.
Me and Diana Stevenson.
Teresa Woods and Donna Thompson.
Pam Freck.
I hope you have enjoyed these pictures. If anybody else has pictures from the First Palmetto Tat Days...I think we all would love to see them.

I have been to all of the Palmetto Tat Days including the first I think it was 2002 or 2003. This event was in Columbia South Carolina. My husband had just bought a new truck ( which we still have btw and there is some rust disease) and we decided to drive out of the ice storm we were having to try the new truck out. We left at 4 A.M. and drove straight down. We checked into our room at 6 something and saw on the news about Rochester, New York ice storm. Yes, when we got home we had broken and snapped trees in our yard. We were also out of electric  but there wouldn't have been anything we could have done to change anything if we had stayed home. I am really glad I went and I remember having such a good time and meeting people that I had written to. Like Riet  for one, Wally Joy and so many others.
We stayed in a hotel and went to the museum by trolley which was how we were transported back and forth. There was this picture of me taken. We didn't take the picture...someone I think emailed this picture to me. I can't find the file and was wondering who took the picture and emailed it to me. I am not fond of pictures that are taken of me since I am not a beauty queen but I do like this picture and would like to have the original picture file. I am hoping that someone looking at my blog will recognize your picture of me and let me know it was you. My how time flies huh??

Today I finished my wire work butterfly necklace designed by Barb Switzer. I also made my own chain. I love it! The design I think is so beautiful. Now to move on to something else but now I have made one thing in wire I may do more. It is a fun thing to do.

Day two  "Making my wire work butterfly. Next is adding the beads. I still haven't decided which beads I am going to use yet....decisions...decisions....Once the beads are added it will be time for the antennae. I am thinking of making my own chain but first the butterfly.

It has been awhile since I have posted on here...but I am still around. I have recently finished two Alice Starmore sweaters pictured below.
I had been proofing for Iris Niebach and here is a picture of her new book which has some beautiful design and also showing you what she sent to me including the tatting collage that is pictured on the back of the book.
Today I am working on y first real wire work. Here is a picture of the body of the butterfly. The design is by Barb Switzer. If you do a google you will see some of the finished butterflies. The butterfly is the focal point of a necklace. I have lusted to make this butterfly since I first saw it.
She was kind enough to share this design with me a few years ago.
I have also been going around to cemeteries while working on my family tree.

Good morning everybody and I hope all your dreams come true for the new years ahead.
I had a very nice Christmas and  I hope you did too. My children got us a new refrigerator which we really needed badly. Ours was still working but it ended up with a rusting problem. Never heard of a refrigerator doing that before.
This year I made tatting over glass Christmas ornaments for each my children. Here is a couple pictures of them.

I also love making things with Legos and what is more fun than getting Scooby Doo Legos. This is what my son Ryan got for me. I am known to spend hours putting the Legos together for my Grandchildren. So now they will have Scooby Doo ones to play with when they are here at Granny's house.

Here is a picture of my whole family on Christmas Day.

This is the last day that Feargal came to visit Celtic's Elf Fergus'Og. We had lots of fun before we were carefully packed in my box suitcase and mailed to Jane Eborall's house to have even more fun. I know that Feargal, Miss Scarlett and the wee one will have fun with Jane. Jane is always the bubbly fun sort full of humor. I can just imagine the fun you will have.
Here is some pictures of Celtic, Fergus 'Og with Feargal, Scarlett and the wee one. First she let us play in some of her shuttle collection. Usually Celtic has them sitting pretty in her corner curio or in the glass case shadow box...but for today she got them out for us. OOoooo such treasures she has.
We all sat and look at some of Celtic's tatting treasures that she keeps around her house. These bits of tatting came from her Halloween box. Celtic has lots of tatting and I know every once in awhile she gets her tatting out and gushes over the beautiful things she has. Did you all know that Celtic also has a Scooby Doo fun Tatting notebook that has a zipper so none of the tatting pieces get away. She has pages and pages of tatting. She also has this pretty tin (that she got free with a Celtic design from Palmetto event one year) that she keeps her tatted Jewels in. Celtic does love to wear her tatted jewels.
Here too is a portrait that Celtic's husband took of us so she can remember us years from now and the fun we all had spending time with her.
Instead of having a Good Bye cake Celtic made homemade Chocolate chip cookies that we had with tea. After that it was off to the lake right down the hill from Celtic's house. We all sat there and gazed one more time at the beauty before our eyes. One of Celtic's favorite things to do is swimming.
Please enjoy our pictures. Celtic would have put them on Feargal's but Celtic doesn't know how to do that.

There was a call out to find Fergal and Miss Scarlett. As you can see Mother Pam that all is well with the little ones. I am posting pictures here on my blog since I can't figure out how to and to the Wee ones own blog. I received Fergal and Miss Scarlett at Palmetto's Day event from Connie Angeline. As you can see today they were being served pizza, cookies, and some yummy cake at Playmobil Restaurant. Fergal also got to see Rochester, New York and soon they all will be seeing beautiful Canandaigua Lake where Fergus Og lives with his Mommy Celtic.

Great Grandma Effie Showing my mother in law tatting

Okay..I have to share this story. Years ago my husband and I flew to Florida to drive back home a car his mother gave us since she had no need for two cars. While we were there she gave me a black shuttle and said it was her mothers. IF Gary's Mom was still alive she would have been 100yeas old on 12/13/20014 which was last month. Her mother died at a young age so her Grandmother raised her. Yesterday, my husband and I were at his cousin's house trying to put names to faces i...n really old family pictures and my husband's cousin says to me here is a picture of Gladys (Gary's Mother) watching her Grandmother (Effie) Tatting. Well...you would have thought I stroke GOLD but I "struck" an old picture of ancestral family member watching another family member tatting. How exciting is that?!!!! So in these pictures is the shuttle that I was given, which is the same one in the picture. I scanned the picture so I can share my excitement with you and to have a blow up so I can print out 8" by 10" to put in frame and hang on my wall. Thank you so much Cynthia!!!!!!

This is what I made today. A necklace for my very pretty Girlie Girl Kiara Anna Anna. Kiara's Mom brought over a cheap plastic beads craft kit to make little girl jewelry. I made a necklace out of the beads spelling out her full name. It is tatted using the "Beady Bracelet" and "Wrap Bracelet" techniques that Erin Holloway and I taught back in early September. It was hard to get a good picture so I am sharing two pictures I took. Kiara Anna...Granny loves you and this necklace I made for you my little Girlie Girl.

I was so inspired with all the beautiful tatting I saw a Palmetto's Tat Days that I tatted this doily up after I got home. The pattern came from an old "Star" pattern booklet and the pattern was just called...wait for it...wait for it..."Tatted Doily. I have renamed my finished doily "Tatted Colorway". I tried to put a lot of color in the doily. I like it.

I just finished this necklace you see me wearing in this picture. I used the single shuttle ring bracelet
that Erin designed and I helped her teach a couple years ago. I added more to the design to make the necklace and to use up the beads I had left over from making the bracelet.

I just finished this little Mermaid. I say James Cameron look out there is another person out
there that can design creatures like this Mermaid which I am going to name Ariel. Kinda catchy for a name huh?? I had loads of fun making her. I got the pattern from Ring Of Tatter's 2005 book. Loved playing with the color for her. The only thing I did different is I added gold beads to the top of her head so she would look like she was wearing a crown. Since I had so much fun with making her I have to make another ne for myself since this little mermaid will go to a new tatter's home soon. She was designed by Jane Eborall of he UK. Love you Janey O Janie.

No I am not starting a project. This is what happens when I can't find what I did wrong. This is a result of retrolacing. I could not find where I made my mistake so I had to undo it all. So since I don't want to waste the thread they are hanging on a hapkin holder that one of my children made in school. The masking tape with the guilty child's name has come off so I don't know which chicklet made it...but it works wonderful to hand my bobbins on and make them behave before they get to work again on another piece of lace.
Tomorrow there is no school because it is Martin Luthur King's Day...so all of the chicklets will be with me. I think I might either work on either my Bucks Point Edging or my Shamrock Torchon edging. ...I am thinking the torchon one right now.

I just finished painting these large Square Santa Claus bobbins. These are the last I am painting for Christmas which has come and gone. In this picture the bobbins are in the same order but turned four times so you can see each side. All the Santa Clauses (since I hand painted them)  each have their very own personalities. They are all for sale. If anyone one is interested in buying any please send me a message.  When the three are gone they are gone.

Saturday, January 11, 2014

I have been painting Santa Claus bobbins. There are three Santa Clauses going around the bobbin. There is also a saying in spiral going around that says. "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" . What would Santa be without the presents for every good boy and girl so there are presents with a few jolly Ho Hos.  These bobbins look very Christmasy which I use my Christmas themed bobbins year around just like I listen to Celtic Christmas music year around. :) The last bobbin with the varnish and bird in cage spangle is at present on ebay. I just listed it. There are only a few others of this bobbin. If you are interested in buying one please let me know. When they are gone they will be gone. These were lots of fun to paint and very vibrate. All the other bobbins in the picture also have their varnish and bird cage spangle ready to go to another home amd make some pretty lace.  Here is the URL for the ebay listing.
